1. Purpose and Intent 

This policy establishes the standards and requirements for all content created, approved, and published going forward that depicts NTM portable rollforming machines. It is designed to ensure that the company consistently communicates safe machine operation practices, protects end users from harm, and upholds the company’s commitment to safety in all public-facing communications. 

This policy is a standing component of the company’s Content Policy Guidelines and applies to all internal teams, external agencies, contractors, distributors, and partners who create or publish content on behalf of the company. 

2. Scope 

This policy applies to all content — regardless of format, channel, or audience — that includes images, video, or illustrations of NTM portable rollforming machines. This includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Video content — Product videos, how-to and tutorial videos, testimonials, trade show recordings, social media video, advertisements, and any other video format 
  • Social media content — Posts, stories, reels, paid promotions, and any other content published on social media platforms 
  • Digital advertising — Display ads, paid social, video pre-rolls, retargeting, and all other digital ad formats 
  • Print advertising — Trade publications, magazines, newsletters, and any other print media 
  • Marketing literature and collateral — Brochures, sell sheets, product spec sheets, trade show materials, banners, and printed handouts 
  • Website and digital properties — All pages on company-owned or managed websites, landing pages, product pages, and embedded media 
  • Blog and article content — Published articles, case studies, how-to guides, news posts, and any editorial content 
  • Email marketing — Newsletters, promotional emails, and automated campaign content 
  • Third-party and partner content — Any content published by distributors, dealers, media partners, or other third parties that features NTM machines and is produced or approved by the company 

3. Core Policy Requirements 

Rule 1 — Default Standard: All content depicting an NTM portable rollforming machine must show the machine with all shear guards, safety covers, and required safety equipment properly installed and in place. This is the default and preferred standard for all content. 

Rule 2 — Justification Required: Any content that depicts an NTM portable rollforming machine without shear guards, safety covers, or other required safety equipment must have approved justification on file before the content is published or distributed. 

Rule 3 — Disclaimer Required: Any content approved under Rule 2 must include the required safety disclaimer (see Section 5) in the appropriate format for the content type. No exceptions. 

PROHIBITED CONTENT: Content depicting customers, end users, or any individuals operating an NTM portable rollforming machine in the field without shear guards or safety covers in place is strictly prohibited and will not be approved for publication under any circumstances, regardless of the source or context. 

4. Acceptable Justifications for Showing Unguarded Machines 

4.1 Approved Content Categories 

  • Instructional / How-To Content: Content specifically created to demonstrate setup, operation, maintenance, or troubleshooting procedures where the removal of a guard is a necessary and intentional part of the process being shown. The purpose of the guard removal must be clearly explained within the content. 
  • Factory or Controlled Demonstration Content: Content filmed in a controlled environment by qualified company personnel or authorized representatives, where the absence of a guard is intentional and safety protocols were observed during filming. 
  • Technical and Service Documentation: Engineering diagrams, parts identification images, service manual illustrations, or similar technical content where the guard must be absent to clearly show the relevant component or procedure. 
  • Internal Training Materials: Content created for internal employee or authorized dealer training purposes, where the absence of a guard is educationally necessary and the audience is trained personnel. 

4.2 Content That Will Not Be Approved 

  • Customer-submitted photos or videos showing machines in use in the field without guards, regardless of the customer’s intent 
  • Testimonial or case study content where a machine is incidentally shown without guards 
  • User-generated content (UGC) shared or reposted by the company that shows unguarded machines 
  • Any content where the unsafe configuration was unintentional or was not noticed during production review 
  • Content where the justification is solely that the machine “looks better” or is “easier to film” without guards 

5. Required Disclaimer Language 

All approved content depicting an NTM portable rollforming machine without shear guards or covers must include the following disclaimer. The disclaimer text must not be altered without approval from the Safety & Compliance Officer. 

WARNING: Machine should never be operated without the guards in place. Otherwise severe injury can occur. Machine must be operated by a competent trained individual and never be operated by a person who has not had proper training, studied the video and the latest operating manual found at www.newtechmachinery.com/learning-center/resource/manuals. Failure to operate correctly or without guards can result in severe injury. 

5.1 Placement Requirements by Content Type 

  • Video: Disclaimer must appear after the video intro (~30 seconds) as a slide for a minimum of 5 seconds. 
  • Images: Disclaimer must appear underneath or as an overlay across the image in minimum 7pt font. 
  • Print materials: Disclaimer must appear in a clearly visible location on the same page as the image in minimum 7pt font. 
  • Web pages: Disclaimer must appear immediately adjacent to or below the image or embedded media in minimum 16px. 
  • Email: Disclaimer must appear directly below any image or video thumbnail depicting an unguarded machine. 

6. Content Video Protocol 

All content depicting an NTM portable rollforming machine without shear guards or covers must include the following: 

Verbal Warning 

The content creator must include a verbal warning prior to the subject engaging the machine. The verbal warning should contain the following language: 

“Disable the machine with the lockout tagout system before removing the covers or shear guard. Never reach through the shear—only work in front of the shear or behind the shear.” 

Visual Warning 

The disclaimer slide must appear for a minimum of 5 seconds following the video introduction. Letters should be large and bold, with strong contrast between the words and the backdrop.  

Approval 

The Marketing Director performs a final review to confirm the disclaimer is correctly placed and formatted. The content is then cleared for publication.  

7. Third-Party and Partner Content 

This policy extends to all content produced by or in partnership with external agencies, distributors, media partners, and contractors. The following requirements apply: 

  • All third-party content featuring NTM machines must follow the same guidelines as detailed in this document.  
  • Agencies, distributors, and contractors must be briefed on this policy at the start of any engagement and must acknowledge the requirements in writing. 
  • Distributors and contractors who publish content featuring NTM machines are expected to comply with this policy. The company reserves the right to request removal of non-compliant content published by partners. 
  • User-generated content (UGC) featuring NTM machines may not be shared, reposted, or amplified by the company unless it has been reviewed and confirmed compliant with this policy. 

9. Policy Review and Updates 

This policy will be reviewed if there are significant changes to the NTM product line, applicable safety regulations, or company content strategy. Any updates to this policy must be approved by both the Marketing Director and NTM Vice President, and communicated to all relevant teams and partners.
